The increasingly popular Tour de Yorkshire is the focus of this album of photographs. With probably the best weather since the TdY started, crowds flocked to the village of Masham. These photos were taken just after the line for the unclassified sprint – Unclassified as no points were on offer, but the first rider to cross the line would win their height in beer. That lucky person was Stephane Rossetto.
This time the Tour de Yorkshire decided to visit Goathland, an area that was already well visited due to its appearances in the former TV show Heartbeat and the railway station being used for Hogsmead from the Harry Potter films. As you leave Goathland and head towards Whitby you’ll encounter the Cote de Goathland with its sharp entry and long slog along its 1.3km length. Positioning myself on the KoM line (rather cruelly the hill continues beyond the line) the photos were taken as the breakaway and peloton passed.
